A Crewe-based steam locomotive will visit Carlisle this Wednesday
A Locomotive Services Ltd steam locomotive will haul ‘The Fellsman’ from Crewe to Carlisle, via Blackburn and Settle this Wednesday June 15, 2022.
We believe this tour will be carried by one of the following: 34046 Braunton, 46100 Royal Scot or 45231 The Sherwood Forester, but we have not confirmed this yet.
Leaving Crewe at 07:02, the train will initially be diesel-hauled, with the steam locomotive at the rear. The tour will pass Beeston Castle (07:16) to Chester arriving at 07:28.
From Chester the tour is transported by steam locomotive. Departing at 07.38, the train will pass through Frodsham (07.52) and Runcorn East (07.57) on its way to WCML at Warrington Bank Quay – arriving at 08.03.
From Warrington Bank Quay the train will pass through Wigan North Western (8.20am), Bamber Bridge (8.56am), Blackburn (9.07am), Clitheroe (9.34am), Hellifield (10.27am), Ribblehead (10.59am), Garsdale (11.14am), Appleby (11.37am) ), Lazonby & Kirkoswald (12:28 p.m.) and Carlisle at 12:50 p.m.
After two and a half hours in Carlisle, the locomotive will take the same route as on the outward journey. Leaving Carlisle at 3.30pm, the train will pass through Appleby (4.14pm), Blea Moor (4.58pm), Hellifield (5.29pm), Clitheroe (6.42pm), Blackburn (7.09pm), Bamber Bridge (7.20pm), Wigan North Western (7.58pm), Warrington Bank Quay (8.14pm), Frodsham (8.28pm), Chester (8.45pm – diesel transported from here) and finally Crewe at 9.33pm.
