A steam locomotive will visit Newton Abbot this Saturday

70000 Britannia or 34046 Braunton will be back in action this Saturday (September 3) as they carry the English Riviera Express.

A diesel will transport the first part of the circuit. Departing Crewe at 05.45am, the train will pass through Stafford (06.11am), Penkridge (06.21am), Wolverhampton (06.32am), Smethwick Galton Bridge (06.45am), Birmingham New Street (06.52am), Barnt Green (07.32am), Worcestershire Parkway (08.04am) ), Cheltenham Spa (08:26), Bristol Parkway (09:09), Bristol Temple Meads (09:42), Taunton (10:27) and Norton Fitzwarren at 10:35.

Here the steam locomotive will be added to the train. Departing Norton Fitzwarren at 10.59am, the train will continue its journey through Tiverton Parkway (11.15am), Exeter St Davids (11.35am), Dawlish Warren (11.52am), Newton Abbot (12.14pm) Paignton (12.32pm) and Kingswear at 1.06pm.

The return journey will leave Kingswear at 4.35pm and will see the train retrace its steps to Crewe, passing through Paignton (5.21pm), Dawlish (5.51pm), Exeter St Davids (6.17pm), Taunton (7.21pm – diesel transported from here), Bristol Temple Meads (8:12 p.m.), Cheltenham Spa (9:24 p.m.), Worcestershire Parkway (9:46 p.m.), Barnt Green (10:09 p.m.), Birmingham New Street (10:45 p.m.), Wolverhampton (11:13 p.m.), Stafford (11:31 p.m.) and Crewe at 11:58 p.m.
