British India Line steam locomotive 35018 will haul London to Carlisle this Saturday

35018 British India Line will return to steam on the mainline and will be in Carlisle and Blackburn on Saturday 9th April.

The locomotive is on a special railtour. 35018 British India Line is carrying the Steam Dreams excursion on Saturday.

The railtour leaves London Euston behind an electric locomotive at around 07:08.

The railtour will then head to Carlisle, where it will make stops at Milton Keynes Central (07.43am), Rugby (08.24am), Nuneaton (08.41am), Crewe (09.30am) and Preston (10.14am) before arriving at Carnforth North Junction at 10.42am .

Here the steam locomotive will be added to the front of the train which will depart with the locomotive at 11:29 a.m., passing through Oxenholme (11:44 a.m.) and Penrith (12:23 p.m.), it will go non-stop to Carlisle, arriving at 12:44 p.m.

After almost 2 hours in Carlisle, the steam locomotive will leave Carlisle at 2.22pm bound for London Euston. It will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (2:45pm) and stop for water at Appleby (3:05pm).

Continuing on the Settle and Carlisle line, the locomotive will pass over the Ribblehead Viaduct at approximately 3:55 p.m., continuing to Settle, passing through Settle Junction (4:08 p.m.) where it will proceed to Hellifield, for a water stop, at 4:14 p.m. .

From there, 35018 British India Line will pass through Clitheroe (5.01pm) and Blackburn (5.26pm) before arriving in Preston at 5.54pm.

At Preston, 35018 British India Line is removed from the train and an electric locomotive will resume the same route back to London Euston, calling at Crewe (7.29pm), Nuneaton (8.27pm), Rugby (8.49pm), Milton Keynes Central (9.20pm) and Watford Junction at 10:03 p.m.

The train tour will return to its final destination of London Euston at 10.28pm.
