Jokowi and Xi Jinping inaugurate Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project was to be inaugurated by Indonesian President Joko”Jokowi“Widodo and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, said the project continues to be fast-tracked for the trial to be held in November this year.

“Hopefully President Xi Jinping and President Jokowi will be in Bali. We are also planning to inaugurate some of our major projects with China via Zoom,” Luhut said while inspecting tunnels of railway projects in Purwakarta on Wednesday, March 30.

He claimed that the project is still on schedule although its completion has been delayed to the end of 2022. The government has also targeted this mega project to be completed by June 2023.

The cooperation between the two entrepreneurs from Indonesia and China, Luhut added, was going very well. He also claimed that so far there have been no problems with the financing of the project.

The secretary general of the Indonesia-China consortium for the Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) project, Rahadian Ratry, said the president Jokowi and Xi Jinping will join the dynamic test of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train from Tegalluar Station to Padalarang Station.

“In the dynamic test, the allowable speed of the train is around 40-120 km,” Rahadian said in a statement written on Wednesday, March 30.
