Metro Transit: Cyclist recovers from injuries after collision with light rail

UPDATE: A person is recovering from his injuries after colliding with a light rail train Wednesday morning in Minneapolis.

According to Metro Transit, a man riding a bicycle near US Bank Stadium collided with a southbound train at Fifth Street and Portland Avenue just before 9 a.m.

The cyclist was taken to an area hospital to be evaluated for injuries that are not considered life threatening.

Metro Transit says its preliminary investigation shows the cyclist disobeyed active warning devices.

The collision caused delays on the blue and green lines.


INITIAL REPORT: Metro Transit reports that a light rail train and a cyclist collided Wednesday morning in Minneapolis.

According to Metro Transit, the incident occurred in the US Bank Stadium station area.

Blue line and green line delays were reported around 9:15 a.m.

Additional information about the condition of the cyclist, as well as the collision, has not been released.
