Minister of Railways inspects and reviews progress of high speed railway stations in Sabarmati and Ahmedabad

Ashwini Vaishnaw – Union Minister for Railways, Communications and Electronics and Information Technology, visited the sites of High Speed ​​Rail (HSR) stations in Sabarmati and Ahmedabad on 13 September 2022 and reviewed the progress of the Mumbai – Ahmedabad high-speed rail project. Vaishnaw also visited the Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station and inspected various station equipment. MR was accompanied by Prakash Butani, General Manager (Head) of Western Railway, Tarun Jain, Divisional Director of Railways of Ahmedabad Division, Senior Head of Departments as well as Senior Railway Officers of Western Railway & National High Speed ​​Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).

According to a press release issued by Sumit Thakur – Public Relations Manager of Western Railway, Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw arrived at Gandhinagar Capital in the morning and inspected various aspects of passenger-related amenities at the station. Thereafter, MR conducted track inspection from Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station to Sabarmati Railway Station by Traveling Inspection Car (SPIC). At Sabarmati Station, MR inspected various equipment and also visited One Station One Product booth. Next, Vaishnaw reached the construction site of Sabarmati High Speed ​​Railway Station and reviewed the work progress. Vaishnaw inspected the completed and ongoing infrastructure works and also saw the miniature model of the upcoming Sabarmati HSR station. He was briefed by NHSRCL officials on the various developments and progress undertaken under the project. MR also interacted with the workers and boosted their morale by appreciating their efforts in the nation building process. Later, he then proceeded to Ahmedabad in the inspection car (SPIC) and conducted en route inspection of the track between Sabarmati and Ahmedabad stations. From Ahmedabad, Vaishnaw reached the construction site of the Ahmedabad High Speed ​​Railway (HSR) station and inspected the piling works in progress. Vaishnav also visited the Jhulta Minar in Ahmedabad and carried out a detailed inspection by going to the top of the structure. Restoration of this heritage structure is planned in conjunction with IIT Roorkee and involving other specialist agencies.

Thakur further mentioned that Vaishnaw interacted with media representatives and briefed them on the status of the bullet train and Vande Bharat Express trains. Giving details of the high-speed rail project, MR said jetties have been constructed over 80 km. Work on placing the aprons, viaduct, tracks and aerial equipment is progressing at a rapid pace. Also the construction work of the stations is progressing at a rapid pace. He said the Sabarmati terminal is being developed as a multimodal hub that will integrate railways, high-speed metro (HSR) and bus rapid transit (BRT) route. He also informed that all permissions have been received from the state government. for Bullet train work in Maharashtra. Further, Vaishnaw informed that the third Vande Bharat Express with advanced features has completed the trials and will soon be introduced between Mumbai and Gandhinagar stations.
