Minister of Transport orders acceleration of work in remaining phases of high-speed rail line

Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir has ordered the acceleration of the remaining phases of the country’s first high-speed rail project.

The new railway line will be used for the transport of goods to and from the port of Ain Sokhna.

During his inspection tour, the minister demanded work on the implementation of the first line of the express train network project (Ain Sokhna / El Alamein / Matrouh / Fayoum) in the distance from Ain Sokhna to Helwan passing through the new administrative capital.

He was accompanied by officials from the Tunnels, Roads and Bridges Authority and a project consultant and executives from the executing companies, who provided him with a weekly report from the project’s general consultant (Systra) on the progress of all the work on the kilo zero project in Matrouh, with full commitment from all the companies within the specified deadlines.

The Minister visited Ain Sokhna station, where he followed the progress of the establishment of the station which will serve the area of ​​Ain Sokhna, both the tourist areas on the Red Sea and the industrial zones, as well as the port zone of Ain Sokhna, and its services can extend to the new investment zones of the region, as well as to the new town of Suez. It is the terminal station of the line, and the percentage of completion has been reviewed.

He also inspected the works in progress between the stations of Ain Sokhna and the central station of each of the works of the railway bridge and all the industrial works on this way, such as the bridges (Wadi Hajoul – June 30 – Ain Sokhna Car Bridge , kilo 4 + 500 – regional ).

The Minister of Transport indicated that the electric fast train project (Ain Sokhna – El Alamein – Matrouh – Fayoum), has a length of 660 km, and includes 22 stations and that the design speed of the train is 250 km / hour , and contribute to connect the new administrative capital and the new cities to the railway network, to transport passengers and goods by a fast, modern and safe means of transport, since it will start from the city of Ain Sokhna on the coast of the Red Sea to the new city of Alamein, passing through the new administrative capital, the city of October 6 and the city of Borg El Arab.
