New Leicestershire home for steam locomotive No. 2012 Teddy

Peckett Locomotive, No. 2012 ‘Teddy’ arrived in its new home before its overhaul began.

Teddy’s new home is The Battlefield Line. Some of you may remember that Teddy once called The Battlefield Line home in 1972, when it was acquired by ER Teddy Boston, who owned the Cadeby Light Railway a short distance away.

It was at The Battlefield Line that 2012 was first returned to steam in Preservation – after which it was given the name Herbert.

Teddy is currently out of service awaiting an overhaul, but with the move to the Battlefield line bringing the locomotive closer to owner, overhaul should begin soon.

Teddy’s owner said “in many ways this is a homecoming, which not only brings TEDDY back to the area where he spent so much time, but more importantly brings him back to a a stone’s throw from the owner’s house, which will facilitate the imminent overhaul.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Chasewater Railway for giving TEDDY such a fantastic home over the past seven years, and in particular to thank Mark, Mitch and Luke for looking after it as if it were the their.”
