New passenger train from Visakhapatnam to Koraput working from today

Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reported the first run of the Visakhapatnam-Koraput-Visakhapatnam daily passenger train (08538/08537) Friday at 4pm from Koraput. Regular train service to Koraput from Visakhapatnam is scheduled to start today, April 23, 2022. Regular train service to Visakhapatnam from Koraput is scheduled to start on April 24, 2022. The new train would have six second class overhead coaches as well as two second baggage coaches class cum.

Responding to the needs of the passengers, the Minister of Railways said on the inaugural occasion that the long wait for the dream project linking Junagarh to Badrachalam via Malkangiri and Nawarangpur will also be fulfilled shortly. The project was sanctioned last year in September with an estimated cost of ₹2,800 crore. The project is also designed to connect the villages of Telangana. He also added that rail connectivity will boost the socio-economic development of the region while improving travel facilities for passengers.

The Minister also made additional announcements regarding other trains and assured the public that their request had been heard. The request to stop Samaleswari Express, Jagdalpur-Rourkela-Jagdalpur Express and Hirakhand Express at Lakhimpur Road has been approved and will be implemented soon. He also added that the additional stop of Visakhapatnam-Kirandul-Visakhapatnam train at Bacheli will also be implemented soon.

The inaugural ceremony was also attended by East Cost Railway Divisional Railway Manager Anup Satpathy, East Coast Railway Annual General Meeting Sharad Srivastava, MP Koraput Raghuram Padal and other Waltair division officials and the Board of Railways.
