Power outage delays tram near M&T Bank Stadium

A power outage forced a Saturday night evacuation of light rail in southwest Baltimore. The outage caused delays after the Ravens’ game on Saturday night. WBAL-TV spoke to a passenger stuck at the light rail station outside M&T Bank Stadium. The passenger said the power was cut off and then he was stuck for 40 minutes. The Maryland Transit Administration posted service advisories online, saying the light rail was experiencing delays in northbound and southbound service due to a power outage at Westport Station. The MTA tweeted on Saturday evening: “Light RailLink is currently experiencing delays to both North and South service due to a power outage at Westport Station. We regret the inconvenience this is causing and assure you that we are working diligently to restore normal service.” In an update shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday, the MTA tweeted: “Repairs to fallen overhead wires at Westport station are underway. During this time, Light RailLink will run single-track trains between stations in Camden and Patapsco.” The Baltimore Ravens also released a statement, “The M&T Bank Stadium Light Rail Station is unavailable after tonight’s game.” Ravens staff members directed people to Oriole Park light rail station in Camden Yards.
