Jessie was built in 1937 and spent its working life in Cardiff before retiring in 1965. Mike Pearce bought the locomotive and started running on steam in 2003.

Another locomotive is expected to be announced, but it will be “much smaller than passengers might expect”

The event will feature freight trains, a narrow gauge railway at The Engine House and an intensive schedule until midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Other star attractions at the event include good trains, a narrow gauge railway at The Engine House visitor center and an intensive schedule running until midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Michael Dunn, Head of Commerce and Visitor Experience, celebrated the addition: “In addition to our fantastic home fleet, the trio of guests we announced for our Fall Steam Gala make this event truly unmissable.

“There’s something for everyone – an industrial, a pannier tank duo, a Black Five, a Mogul and a purple Bulleid Pacific. Plus, with the pie and mash and breakfast services in LNER 7960, we have so much to do.

“We know we’re about to experience another exceptional four-day extravaganza and encourage visitors to book tickets in advance to get the best deal!”
