Steam locomotive 34067 Tangmere will pass through Oxenholme Lake District this Saturday

34067 Tangmere will be back to mainline steam and will be in Tebay, Carlisle and Blackburn on Saturday 14th May 2022.

The locomotive is on a section of a special railtour with 34067 Tangmere hauling The Northern Belle.

The tour starts in Leeds behind diesel locomotives. Departing Leeds at 8.35am, the train will pass through Dewsbury (8.52am), Huddersfield (9.11am), Hebden Bridge (10.00am), Todmorden (10.06am), Rochdale (10.22am), Manchester Victoria (10.42am), Bolton (11.02am), Preston ( 11:30 a.m.), Lancaster (11:47 a.m.) and Carnforth North Junction at 11:58 a.m.

Here, 34067 Tangmere is added to the train. Leaving here at 12.28pm, the steam train will pass through Oxenholme Lake District (12.42pm), Tebay (12.58pm), Penrith North Lakes (1.20pm) and Carlisle at 1.39pm.

After approximately 90 minutes in Carlisle, 34067 will depart at 3:12 p.m. passing through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (3:39 p.m.), Appleby (3:59 p.m.), Garsdale (4:37 p.m.), Ribblehead (4:49 p.m.), Hellifield (5:08 p.m.), Clitheroe (5:56 p.m.), Whalley (6:01 p.m.) ), Blackburn (6:26 p.m.) and Preston (6:56 p.m.).

Here, Tangmere is removed from the train and replaced by diesel locomotives. The tour returns to Leeds via Bolton (7.37pm), Manchester Victoria (7.57pm), Huddersfield (9.31pm), Wakefield Kirkgate (10.00pm), Leeds (10.22pm).

Meanwhile 34067 will form 5Z87 1903 Preston at Carnforth Steamtown. Leaving Preston at 7.03pm, it will pass through Lancaster (7.32pm) and Carnforth (7.37pm) before returning to Carnforth Steamtown at 7.41pm.
