Steam Locomotive 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley on the Severn Valley Railway
In this short video, RailView records the legendary A4 carrying its first passenger service, running in Wartime Black 4498/60007 and offering breathtaking views as it winds its way through the Severn Valley Railway.
The video begins at Tenbury Wall and we see Sir Nigel Gresley driving away from Bewdley leaving Kidderminster Town and heading towards Bridgnorth in the golden afternoon sun on his first public passenger service since being withdrawn for overhaul on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in September 2015.
We then see the A4 working its second and final train of the day from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth to Haye Bridge and down Eardington Bank and looking stunning in the evening sunlight as it powers the incline with wonderful whistles as she carries coaches beautiful rake Gresley Teak.
It’s fantastic to see this famous A4 Pacific return to steam and with the added benefit of seeing it in temporary LNER Wartime Black as it is set to be repainted in its BR Express Blue livery in the future not too far.
