Steam Locomotive 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley: Photos at Members Day held in Crewe

Today the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust hosted a Members Day in Crewe, and thanks to Robert Batty we have these images to share with you.

Saturday 12 February marked the 55th anniversary of the handover of British Rail 60007 to the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust, and to mark the occasion Members Day was held.

Members had the opportunity to take pictures of the locomotive and visit the footrest during a guided tour.

Looking complete after its overhaul, the LNER A4 locomotive stood proudly above the Locomotive Services Group pit in Crewe.

The locomotive successfully completed a boiler test last month. This new test resets the A4’s 10-year boiler certificate, which is currently held since the last test, which was carried out during the boiler overhaul at Llangollen Railway.

Sir Nigel Gresley is to be run-in at Severn Valley Railway ahead of mainline testing and a possible return to mainline service.

As previously confirmed, 60007 is seen in LNER Wartime Black, which it will wear for break-in before being painted in BR Blue.
