Steam locomotive 6233 Duchess of Sutherland will visit Carlisle this Saturday
For the first time in several years, LMS Duchess No. 6233 Duchess of Sutherland will visit Carlisle as part of a Vintage Trains tour.
Departing Tyseley Locomotive Works at 07.00am, the tour, hauled by diesel locomotive, will pass through Walsall (07.37am), Wolverhampton (07.56am), Penkridge (08.10am), Stafford (08.20am), Crewe (08.52am), Warrington Bank Quay (09.39am) ), Wigan North Western (9.51 a.m.), Blackburn (10.27 a.m.), Clitheroe (10.47 a.m.) and Hellifield at 11.18 a.m.
With the diesel detached and 6233 Duchess of Sutherland at the helm, it will leave Hellifield at 11.54am and pass through Ribblehead (12.20pm), Appleby (1.00pm) and Carlisle at 1.47pm.
After a stop at Carlisle, 6233 Duchess of Sutherland will depart at 4.40pm passing through Appleby (5.26pm), Kirkby Stephen (6.01pm), Garsdale (6.13pm), Settle Junction (6.42pm), Hellifield (6.45pm), Whalley (7.32pm), Blackburn (7.51pm), Wigan North Western (8.57pm), Warrington Bank Quay (9.11pm) and Crewe at 9.40pm.
Here a diesel locomotive will replace 6233 and return to Tyseley via Stafford (10.31pm), Wolverhampton (11.04pm), Walsall (11.23pm) and Tyseley Steam Trust at 12.11am.
