Steam locomotive based at Carnforth to haul the Lancaster

A Carnforth-based steam locomotive will pass through Preston and Ribblehead this Tuesday July 12, 2022.

The locomotive is on a special railtour tomorrow, carrying the Pendle Dalesman to Carlisle.

The railtour leaves Lancaster behind the steam locomotive at 08:09 and will then pass through Preston (08:42), Blackburn (09:12), Langho (09:27), Clitheroe (09:40), Hellifield (10:18), Ribblehead (11:23), Appleby (12:01), Langwathby (12:13 p.m.) and arrival in Carlisle at 12:52 p.m.

After approximately two and a half hours in Carlisle, the steam locomotive will leave Carlisle at 3.25pm ​​bound for Lancaster. It will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (3:53 p.m.) and stop for water at Appleby (4:12 p.m.).

Continuing on the Settle and Carlisle line, the locomotive will pass over the Ribblehead Viaduct at approximately 5.17pm, continuing to Settle, and through Settle Junction (5.32pm) where it will proceed to Hellifield, for a water stop, at 5:37 p.m. . After the water stop, the locomotive will continue to Lancaster, passing through Clitheroe (7.20pm), Blackburn (7.50pm), Preston (8.18pm) and Lancaster at 9.33pm.
