Tangmere Steam Locomotive 34067 passes through Oxenholme Lake District with luxury train

In this short video, RailAdvent was on the West Coast Mainline again to film the steam SR Battle of Britain No. 34067 ‘Tangmere’ through Oxenholme Lake District with The Northern Belle in Carlisle.

On 2 April 2022, SR Battle of Britain completed its second Northern Belle excursion since returning to the main line.

34067 Tangmere would take over at Carnforth on the York excursion from The Northern Belle to Carlisle and is seen here in Oxenholme Lake District heading towards Shap.

The film begins in Oxenholme Lake District with a TransPennine Express Class 397 operating a Preston to Carlisle service, which operated a short route due to the closure of the West Coast Main Line south of Preston due to engineering works.

We then see the Battle of Britain powerhouse wind its way uphill to its eventual summit at Shap. He was a few minutes late after an RT start from Carnforth.

With 6201 Princess Elizabeth out of service, 34067 Tangmere is the only locomotive for the 2022 Northern Belle steam trips, so there’s plenty of time to catch up if you’ve missed it so far.
