The high-speed train between Malaga and Granada in Spain will have a third daily frequency from August

GRENADA and Málaga will add a new frequency to their Avant rail link from August.

Since April this year, the two popular Spanish cities have been linked by a high-speed rail service operated by the RENFE rail network.

Avant services were the first to offer a direct train service between Malaga and Granada, with an initial service which saw two Avant trains run per day in each direction between the two cities.

From August, the RENFE rail network will offer a third frequency, with two new trains, one in each direction, departing from Granada at 1.30 p.m. and from Malaga at 3.50 p.m.

This additional train schedule complements the current routes which see a 9.25am train departing from Malaga, arriving in the capital city of Granada at 10.37am and an evening service which departs Malaga at 8.25pm and arrives in Granada at 9.37pm.

For those traveling from Granada to Malaga, the first train departs Granada at 7.40am and arrives in Malaga at 8.50am and the evening train which departs Granada at 6.50pm arrives in Malaga at 8.00pm.

Journey time for the high-speed service is one hour and ten minutes, with an intermediate stop in Loja.
